New Workshops and Certifications

CTL is launching three new certifications. Foundations of Teaching with Blackboard is being offered this fall. Online Teaching Essentials will be offered during the Spring semester and Instructional Design for transformational Learning is planned for 2015. CTL is offering a number of workshops this fall.

The Foundations of Teaching with Blackboard certification is composed of 9 modules with 7 of them being core modules and 2 being electives. These workshops offer enrichment for all experience levels even if you do not need the certificate. The modules are being offered on campus and online with day, evening, and weekend options available.

The 7 core modules include: Blackboard Fundamentals • More Blackboard Fundamentals • Communicating Effectively with Blackboard Tools • Tools to Support Student Interactions • Blackboard Grade Center • Blackboard Collaborate • Designing and Deploying Assessments.

Electives to choose from include: • Electronic Portfolios and Student Assessment • Applying the Quality Matters Rubric • Integrating Library Resources and Research • Integrating Free and Open-Source Resources • Building Community with Social Media Tools • Effective Use of Media and Copyrighted Materials • Universal Design for Online Learning.

Registration is available in the Regent Training System (RTS). 

CTL Welcomes our New Director: Dr. Amankwatia

The Center for Teaching & Learning would like to welcome our new director, Dr. Tonya Amankwatia. Dr. Amankwatia joins us from DeSales University in Pennsylvania where she served as Director of Distance Education and Instructional Technology. She also taught in the graduate education programs at both DeSales and Lehigh University. We are thrilled to have Dr. Amankwatia’s unique set of talents and experiences here at Regent University.

CTL Director Fun facts: 
Amankwatia is an Asante name (Ghana) that partly means “delivered from death”; her last name is a fringe benefit from an ORU missions trip to Liberia where she met her husband. Dr.  Amankwatia is a 1st Degree Blackbelt ATA Songham Tae Kwon DoT
